A mid 80's Pearl World birch/mahogany drum kit, currently in a 6 piece configuration. "Shelly" has 10", 12" (sometimes 13") toms & a 16" floor tom with a 22"x18" kick, 13" Pork Pie acrylic primary snare drum, a 14" Pearl piccolo secondary snare drum, DW 5000 series double pedals & hi-hat stand, misc. Ziljian Cymbals, a Wuhan china cymbal, and Remo ambassador heads (w/ masking tape as needed to muffle ringing).

It's not fancy, but it works...
Drums are recorded 8 Tracks simultaneously to a Zoom R24 digital recorder:
Channel 1- Sure SM57 on Snare pointed at middle of drum.
Channel 2 - GLS Audio ES-57 on the batter head of the kick pointed at the contact patch and an Inverted subwoofer speaker used as a mic located directly in front of resonant head hole. The two channels are blended through a vintage Fostex 4-track with Dolby on, and sent to single mono Zoom track.
Channel 3 - Audio Technica ATM41a dynamic mic on rack toms artfully duck taped to the stand.
Channel 4 - Sampson R21S mic duck taped to kick mic stand arm pointed at floor tom batter head.
Channel 5 - MXL 990 through Art Tube MP Studio V3 Preamp on purc. setting 4’ to 8' in front of kit.
Channel 6 - A cheap old plastic dictation mic taped to the hi-hat stand pointed up and about 4" from bottom hat.
Channel 7-8 - Zoom handheld stereo recorder on a camera stand behind drum seat and pointed over my left shoulder. Stereo line out to Zoom stereo track 7-8.
